Intention: What Is It And Where Does It Come From?

I begin all my yoga classes with setting an intention. Did you ever wonder what “intent” is and where it comes from? Intention is not something you do, but rather a force that exists in the universe as an invisible field of energy. Pantanjali suggested more than 20 centuries ago: "Dormant forces, faculties, and talents come alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be."

Pantajali is referring to forces that appear to be either nonexistent or dead, and he was referring to the powerful energy a person feels when inspired through the power of intent. If you ever felt inspired by a purpose, you know the feeling of Spirit working through you. When we are inspired, we have a natural tendency to set intentions.

Why does this invisible field of energy that exists in the universe seem so hard to connect with? Does everyone have access to this field? Are some of us denied this energy? If so, why? Through my Codes of Creation Mastermind System, I guide you through the invisible and formless field that manages the physical world and every part of you, including your soul, your thoughts, your emotions, and of course your physical body that you occupy.

The answer to where this energy field is; is there’s no place it’s not. Everything in the universe has an intent built into it. This is true for all life forms, whether an animal, plant, insect, mountain, or humans.

Every aspect of nature, without exception, has intention built into it. If you cut open an acorn, you won’t see a mighty oak tree, but you know it’s there. An apple blossom in springtime appears as a small flower, yet the intent built into it is an apple. Intent never makes a mistake. An acorn never becomes a pumpkin seed, and an apple never becomes an orange. Nothing in nature questions its path of intent. Nature simply progresses in harmony from the field of intention. We too are intended from the energy of this field.

The Source, which is intention, is pure and unbounded energy vibrating so fast that it defies measurement. It’s invisible, without form and boundaries. At our Source we are pure spirit, formless and boundless. This is the field where intention resides.

So, if intention is everywhere and determines everything in the universe, then why do so many of us feel disconnected from it? The answer is simple. The human ego creates a false sense of identity. We deactivate this energy field every time we think we are separate from the whole. Activating intention means rejoining your Source and attaining the level of awareness that all things are possible (intention) in the physical and nonphysical energy fields.

All that is required is to realign ourselves to the field of intention. Nature is the perfect platform to do this. In my book, Mother Nature A Bridge to Conscious Living, I guide you through a 7-week meditation that uses the forces of nature to shift your state of being. Through Tree, Wind, Sky, Earth, Water, Fire and Mountain, the natural world teaches us to honor the oneness in all things as we pave our journeys ahead.

Begin by reflecting on this simple statement from “Tree” meditation:

“We are independent yet connected through our roots.”

What can you journal about this simple truth from trees?
